Driving Environmental Justice Forward:
Action, Equity, and Impact
The 2025 Michigan Environmental Justice Conference, hosted by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy's Office of the Environmental Justice Public Advocate, will take place on September 29 at the Marriott Detroit in the Renaissance Center.
This year’s theme is "Driving Environmental Justice Forward: Action, Equity and Impact." Each pillar will be explored with a focus on moving the hyperlocal nature of environmental justice forward.
- What actions and advocacy lead to change for communities?
- How can we facilitate greater positive impacts in underserved, vulnerable communities?
- How can we ensure equitable opportunities for those who live in communities with environmental justice concerns?
The one-day conference will focus on addressing these questions and providing a space for important conversations related to local and state-level resilience amid challenges to environmental, justice, and climate protections.
Grassroots leadership, community-driven solutions, collaborative approaches and Michigan’s efforts to advance environmental justice in historically underserved communities will be highlighted.
