The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy hosted a sold out conference, bringing together and mobilize engaged stakeholders, community and business leaders, advocates, and other partners around implementing the six priority actions of the Plan:
- Commit to environmental justice and pursue the just transition.
- Clean the electric grid.
- Electrify vehicles and increase public transit.
- Repair and decarbonize homes and businesses.
- Drive clean innovation in industry.
- Protect Michigan’s land and water.
On the first day of this conference, attendees heard from thought leaders and experts on the urgency to act and the opportunity we have to create a healthier, more just, and carbon-neutral Michigan. That evening, we hosted a zero food waste/zero net energy networking reception at the Local 58 Zero Net Energy Center. The second day, April 12, featured a full day of breakout sessions providing opportunities for deep-dive conversations, information sharing, and encouraged the building of new collaborations.
