Catalyst Communities

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy's (EGLE's) Catalyst Communities program will hold a Food Waste workshop specifically for Michigan's local government leaders (elected and appointed officials, and staff) the afternoon prior to the 2024 MI Healthy Climate Conference.

Last year, Michigan set a goal to cut down on food waste statewide by 50%. Local governments play a valuable role in achieving this target by minimizing food waste in their own communities. This Catalyst Communities workshop will prepare your community to engage with food waste reduction planning in an interactive format featuring topic experts and collaboration opportunities with other local governments. By attending you can further your community’s sustainability goals and county’s materials management planning. This workshop is intended for local government staff, elected officials, and appointed officials ONLY. If you are not in one of the aforementioned groups, but would like to work with local governments on this topic, please do not register for this event, but email us at info@migreencommunities.com.
