About the Summit
The Michigan Student Sustainability Summit is a unique opportunity for middle and high school students across Michigan to connect with peers, learn about the state’s environmental sustainability efforts, network with state leaders and community partners, and celebrate the impact of youth-led stewardship projects.
Through interactive breakout sessions, field experiences, and exhibits, participants will explore environmental career pathways, develop place-based projects, and engage with experts on Michigan’s air, water, land, energy, and ecosystem services.
Based on youth feedback from previous years, we’re introducing a formal youth poster session to foster peer connection and idea sharing. While not every student needs to present, we ask that each registered school bring at least one poster or project to share. All participants will attend this session, which will be facilitated by high school environmental leaders.
Recipients of EGLE’s Environmental Service Awards, Michigan Green Schools, and Michigan Green Ribbon School certifications will be recognized and celebrated at the summit.
Join us for a day filled with exploration, learning, and inspiration, as we collectively work towards building a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future. Together, let's empower the next generation of leaders to champion positive change for our planet.
Transportation Assistance:
We are pleased to offer transportation assistance for schools attending the MI Student Sustainability Summit. A limited number of transportation assistance scholarships are available thanks to support from the Detroit Zoological Society. While applications are open to all, priority will be given to schools in Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties. If your school requires assistance, please indicate your needs in the application form, and we will do our best to accommodate as many requests as possible.
