*Greener Grand Rapids – Catalyst Communities Walking Tour & Workshop
November 7, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM (includes lunch)

EGLE's Catalyst Communities program will hold a walking tour and workshop specifically for Michigan's local government leaders (elected and appointed officials, and staff) on Friday, November 7, immediately following the Michigan Sustainability Conference (MISCON).  Registration can be made in addition to, or independent of, the conference.

All local government staff, elected officials, and appointed officials are invited to the Catalyst Communities post-conference walking tour and workshop to celebrate successes, share challenges, and deepen connections within the community of local government sustainability practitioners.

Grand Rapids is leading the way in climate mitigation and adaptation to achieve its community goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Join Catalyst Communities and the Grand Rapids Office of Sustainability for a walking tour of strategies & programs that can be adapted in your community. This tour will highlight four of the six key sectors of focus of the City’s Climate Action & Adaptation Plan: nature-based solutions, buildings & industry, transportation, and energy systems. This walking tour will start after lunch at 1:00pm on November 7 and last approximately 1-hour. Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate attire are recommended. More details to come.

Following the walking tour, we will return to the L.V. Eberhard Center to reflect on accomplishments, create space for community building, and come together to envision the future for the local government sustainability community. Come prepared to join your colleagues in sharing your accomplishments and vision for the future of sustainability in Michigan! Participation is limited to those directly associated with local governments (local government staff, elected officials, and appointed officials). Consultants that are not currently expressly working on behalf of a local government on this specific issue need not attend.
